Apple iBook "500"

The Apple iBook "500" features a 500 MHz PowerPC 750cx (G3) processor with a 256k on-chip level 2 cache, 64 MB or 128 MB of RAM (1.), a 10.0 GB or 15.0 GB Ultra-ATA hard drive (2.), either a 24X CD-ROM drive, an 8X DVD-ROM drive, an 8X/4X/24X CD-RW drive (7, 8, 9, A, H, I.), and 2X-AGP ATI Rage Mobility 128 graphics acceleration in an ultrasleek case that is smaller and lighter than previous iBooks, with an improved 12.1" TFT XGA active-matrix display. The Apple iBook "500" includes the same "AirPort" wireless networking, FireWire port and AV port as earlier iBook models, but adds a second USB port, a RGB output port, a built-in microphone, and stereo speakers. Models shipped after October 16, 2001 also ship with a smaller power adapter, and models shipped after January 7, 2002 shipped with MacOS X as the default operating system.
